FAQs

Why do silver jewelry turn black? Is it due to poor quality?

The blackening of silver jewelry is mainly because silver reacts chemically with sulfides in the air (such as sulfur components in sweat and cosmetics) to form black silver sulfide. This is a natural property of silver and not a quality issue. Regularly wiping with a silver cloth or cleaning with toothpaste can restore its luster.

  • Store separately: Avoid mixing different materials (such as silver, gold, gems) to prevent friction scratches or chemical reactions between metals.
  • Keep dry and sealed: Store in sealed bags or jewelry boxes (with desiccants inside), especially for silver jewelry and pearls, to avoid humid environments.
  • Keep away from chemicals: The storage area should be free from contact with perfume, hairspray, cosmetics, etc.
